How it Began

The idea for Multi Media Ministry was first born a long time before the idea for the magazine even came to mind. It began with a YouTube ministry challenge held by a wonderful team of users that wanted to use the site for spreading God's messge. Inspired by their work, I sat down to jot some notes on how people can minister and serve God. I made a quick website where I placed my ideas under different categories, called the page "Multi Media Ministry," and soon forgot about it.

Fast-forward a year or two. For my first Communications Tech project, I had to put together a magazine in Photoshop. Now, I guess I'm the average teenager in that I'm not exactly a fan of projects; in fact, I'd much rather not do them at all. But this specific project really appealed to me. I loved the prospect illustrating words with images and colour, transporting people into a different world where my message could be heard. It was then that the idea of creating an e-zine came to me. Who knew a CommTech project could start lead to something this big?

I never expected my idea to take off. I've had a bit of a committment problem with websites in the past, so I didn't think I could ever get through a whole magazine. However, I began putting some pages together, and it soon became impossible to give up even if I had wanted to. Ideas kept coming up everywhere, and soon, I had told all my friends about my e-zine. (That sort of cemented it; I couldn't give up after all the fuss I had made about it!). The biggest problem for me was finding a name for my e-zine. I considered Created Creative, Shine, even No Basket (don't ask... see Matthew 5:15!). Then that forlorn, forgotten little web-page I had made jumped out of the back of my mind. Of course! How could have I forgotten? Multi Media Ministry, I thought, was the perfect name, and I hope you will agree.

Looking back, I now realise that God had know all along I'd be making this magazine. He had been preparing me for it ever since that little site came into existance ... even before that, probably. Am I ready? I don't think I'll ever be completely ready -- not in this world, anyway -- but as long as God is, I know he's there to support, lead, and encourage me the whole way. I hope that I can reflect even a fraction of that support and encouragement to other teens, and uplift them using this magazine. I want to share your creativity with the world so that all creative Christian teens viewing this e-zine will feel strengthened and inspired by how God is working through you.

I know you have a story to tell... I know you can share God's love. Without it, this e-zine would be nothing -- with it, our ministry will continue to flourish and grow under the hand and guidance of God!

Thank you for being a part of Multi Media Ministry!
