What to Sumbit

Creative Work

Poetry: Poems must be 65 lines or under. We accept any style, form, or genre. We encourage submissions of short poems (3-6 lines). Imagery and emotional impact are key! Please proofread your poems before sending them in. Note: There will be no poetry feature in the Spring 2008 issue of MMM; however, feel free to send in your work as we’ll have another one in the summer.

Short Stories: We’re looking a story up to 4 pages in length to include in our Spring issue. If you have one, please send it in!

Illustration: If you would like to volunteer to illustrate poems and short stories that get published in MMM, send us a sample of your work and a list of genres/themes you like to work with (ie. “historical fiction, nature and fantasy. Good at drawing animals, would prefer not to draw humans…”). When we get a short story/poem that fits your specifications, we will send it to you so that you can draw 1-4 illustrations for it.

Photography: We feature about 6-8 photographs by teens every issue. Our theme for the Spring issue is joy, and we’re looking for any photos that make people feel happy. We may feature your work on the cover of MMM and ask you to answer a couple of short questions for our Cover Artist page.

Artwork: We accept and encourage both traditional and original mediums and works. Send in photos or scans of your paintings, sketches, graphic art, sculpture, pottery, comic strips, and everything in between. Please ensure that the photos/scans are a minimum of 600x600 pixels and not blurry. We may feature your work on the cover of MMM and ask you to answer a couple of short questions for our Cover Artist page.

PLEASE NOTE: Sometimes, we'll need to crop a few pixels from the photo/artwork to make it fit without stretching it. Work featured on the cover page will be cropped and may be slightly photoshopped.

Ideas

Crafts and Recipes: We’re always looking for craft and recipe ideas created by teens. Please do not send ideas that have already been published in craft- or cook-books. You may send instructions on how to make a craft, or simply a description of the craft itself. MMM reserves the right to edit your submissions in this category, but will credit you with the idea.

General Ideas: If you have a suggestion for an article, a tip on how to improve our layout, know of someone who MMM can feature, or simply have an interesting question, quote, or thought floating around in our head, send it in!

Special Features

Have you taken your creativity to the next level? Maybe you’ve recorded a CD, written a book, held an art exhibit, directed a short film… we’re looking to interview people who are serious about pursuing and developing their talent to glorify God. If you or someone you know is interested in being featured in an article or interview, please do not hesitate to email us.

Articles

Reviews: Send in a detailed, descriptive review about a Christian book, CD, or movie (you may also review a popular, recent secular movie from a Christian perspective). Reviews should be 1-2 paragraphs long and they don’t necessarily need to be positive!

General Articles: We accept articles 1 to 3 pages in length aimed at Christian teens. MMM reserves the right to edit them slightly so that they fit onto a certain amount of magazine pages, or quote portions (crediting you) in other magazine features with your permission. Any articles aimed at Christian teens, especially those on the topic of creativity, are acceptable. Please make sure your articles are descriptive and well-researched. Interviews are great!
